"The conception of many Artists who paint the Indian [is to] see only the Eagle feathers. And their imagination gets the Idea that they have grown out of the head of the Indian. And [they] forget that the Eagle feather has grown out of the body of a Bird. I find that the American Artist paints only the overdecorated Indian. My Artist friends do not see the real Indian."
