Sounds of the Night by Allan Houser
Allan Houser (1915-1994)
Sounds of the Night
Chiricahua Apache

". . . my work is about my people's beauty, their dignity . . . what I think of who I am, who they are -- and making them proud. When people look at my things, I want them to see the simplicity of the form. I want them to feel the warmth of the material. I have a strong desire to stimulate their imagination. I'd like critics to view my work and see the efforts and the skills that I've accumulated through the years."

Persimmon Hill, Summer 1993.
