Tatanka Wan "A Buffalo Bull"
Lakota (Sioux)

"Our Elders teach us that there is a model of the universe inside ourselves . . .We are descendants of the Pte Oyate -- 'Buffalo People.' We are also descended from the Ikce Wicasa -- 'Common Man.'

The Lakota Oyate -- 'Friendly People' -- are the latest evolvement, according to our origin stories. My identity evolves from the Buffalo People, from the Common Man, and from the Friendly People."
