Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea

This sculpture commemorates the exploration of the territory acquired by the United States government through the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The leaders of the exploring party, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, were guided by the Shoshone woman, Sacagawea, who brought her child on the expedition.
