Quirt Ni-U-Ko'n-Ska (Osage), Southern Plains Quirts, carved of horn or wood with wrist straps and whips were made and used by Plains mounted warriors. They also were used to record biographical events primarily related to warfare, such as this example from the Osage. Confrontation is seen in the carved figures of the standing and mounted warriors and their weapons in the center, with rows of figures lined up on each end and horse tracks recording the action.
